It was an honor for Jigme Namgyel Engineering College to receive Hon’ble Lyonpo Yeshey Penjor, Minister of the Ministry of Agriculture and Forests on October 18, 2019 and interact with faculty, staff and students. His talk was filled with wisdom and insights about learning to be interdependent, resilient, friendly and respect; which at times is lacking in young generation. One of the main objectives of the visit was to provide genuine contribution in life making process of youth.

“Don’t let yourself be the victim of minute challenges” he advised in the gathering filled with silence and invigorative minds.  He took the audience back to his past days where life was different and how he overcome the challenges rather than being the victim of it.  He shared that those days challenges were faced due to framed government policy, lack of resources and kind of seniors, juniors or co-workers they have. However, he emphasized that he never gave up instead consulted with colleagues and worked hard to overcome challenges.  Through consultation, he said we receive advise, new ideas, information, encouragement and strength which you would not acquire on your own.

Hon’ble Lyonpo truly believes in interdependence and working together, therefore reiterated that consulting your problems with friends, family and co-workers really helped him in making him a successful person.  Having said that he said, it’s not because he is a Minister today but he could face all the challenges and still living with contented mind. Dedicating his life listening to advise and leaving ego and negative attitude was his key to success.  He motivated young students to be resilient and don’t let minor challenges risk own life. Rather share and seek advice and attain success with satisfaction.

The College was proud to learn that Hon’ble Lyonpo was the alumni of the then Royal Bhutan Polytechnic, which had added motivation to young minds to be better person in near future.
